Considering offering your customers the flexibility of "Buy Now, Pay Later"? This FAQ guide answers the most common questions merchants have about offering Payflex as a payment method through Peach Payments, covering everything from setup and pricing to marketing and reconciliation.

  • Shopify
  • WooCommerce

Financials: Pricing, Settlements & Refunds

4. What does it cost to offer Payflex?

Peach Payments offers a simple and transparent pricing structure for Payflex, which depends on your account type. All pricing is exclusive of VAT.

  • For Growth Accounts: 4.85% + R4.00 per transaction
  • For Enterprise Accounts: A custom rate, typically between 4.0% - 4.85% + R4.00 per transaction, is negotiated based on your transaction volume.

5. When do I get my money?

You receive your funds quickly and reliably. The settlement schedule is based on your account type:

  • For Growth Accounts: You will receive settlements on a weekly basis.
  • For Enterprise Accounts: You are eligible for daily settlements.

6. How do I process a refund for a Payflex order?

You process refunds for Payflex orders exactly the same way you would for a card transaction, directly through your Peach Payments Dashboard or via our API. Once you initiate the refund, we automatically notify Payflex, who will cancel the customer's payment schedule and refund them any amounts already paid.

7. How will Payflex transactions appear on my settlement reports?

In your detailed settlement reconciliation file, each transaction will be clearly labelled with its payment method. You will be able to easily identify all Payflex transactions, making it simple to reconcile your accounts.

Risk, Rules & The Customer Journey

8. What happens if a customer doesn't pay their Payflex instalments?

This does not affect you at all. Payflex assumes 100% of the customer credit and fraud risk. You will receive the full purchase amount (less the transaction fee) in your settlement as normal. The responsibility for collecting the instalments from the customer rests entirely with Payflex.

9. What does the process look like for a first-time Payflex shopper on my site?

For new users, the process is incredibly quick. At your checkout, they select Payflex, enter their South African ID number, and receive an approval decision in seconds. Once approved, they pay their first 25% instalment, and their order is confirmed. The whole process happens on your site without a complex registration.

10. Is there a minimum or maximum transaction value for Payflex?

Yes, Payflex is designed for everyday purchases. Individual transaction limits can vary, but typically Payflex can be used for orders up to a certain value (e.g., R20,000). There is also a minimum order value. Please contact our support team to confirm the current specific limits for your account.

11. Are there any restrictions on the products I can sell with Payflex?

Yes, like most payment methods, there are some restrictions. Payflex generally cannot be used for the sale of certain items like gift cards, vouchers, or virtual currency. For a detailed list of prohibited goods and services, please refer to your merchant agreement or contact our support team.

Marketing & Growth

12. How can I best advertise that I offer Payflex?

To maximize conversions, we recommend promoting Payflex throughout your site. You can add the official Payflex logo to your homepage and footer, and most importantly, use a price-splitter widget on your product and cart pages. This shows customers the cost in four manageable payments (e.g., "Or 4 payments of R250"), which can significantly increase sales.

13. Where can I get the official Payflex logos and marketing assets?

You can request the official Payflex marketing assets, including logos and banners, by contacting their support team at support@payflex.co.za
